IIC Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is incubation?
According to the National Business Incubation Association, business incubators nurture the development of entrepreneurial companies, helping them survive and grow during the start-up period, when they are most vulnerable. These programs provide their client companies with business support services and resources tailored to young firms. The most common goals of incubation programs are creating jobs in a community, enhancing a community's entrepreneurial climate, retaining businesses in a community, building or accelerating growth in a local industry, and diversifying local economies.
2. Why should I join an incubation centre? What difference will it make to my business?
Business incubators are dedicated to provide start-up technopreneurs with heavy mentoring, guidance and resources in the hope of producing a technopreneur with viable products or service in a condensed period of time. Think of it as a business bootcamp. The outcome of the bootcamp could possibly determine whether you're a go or no-go. According to NBIA, 87% of firms that graduated from business incubators since inception are still in business.
3. Are your incubation programmes open to all? Are they chargeable?
Yes and No
General programmes such as funding talks and seminars are open to all technopreneurs, not limited to IIC's incubatees and not chargeable as well. Charges for specific programmes such as training Open InnoMart, Market Validation Programmes and exhibitions are included in the monthly rental fees for incubatees.
4. How is your incubation programme different than other incubation centres in Malaysia?
Techology Park Malaysia is among the few incubation centres in Malaysia that is catagorised as a fourth generation incubation centre. This means, we are among the few incubation centres that provide a complete eco-system for technopreneur development – infrastructure, infostructure and support services.
We don't only house technopreneurs; we groom technopreneurs to be technically and business capable.
